Hunter Online Weekly provides information about the week’s activities and events. Help H.O.W. become a complete listing of all events taking place in the Hunter community by submitting your announcement to HOW@hccs.hunter.cuny.edu. HOW is made possible by the generosity of the PTA. Please see the bottom of this page for instructions on how to format announcements.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY: CALL FOR SUGGESTIONS
The Cultural Diversity Committee, which has been organized to address the issues and experiences of diversity in the Hunter community, is proposing an event for the March 23rd Professional Development Day. This is an event in search of a theme which will serve to raise awareness about diversity as it is reflected and lived in our community. The Diversity Committee is asking all of Hunter's constituencies for suggestions of topics or themes which could frame this event. Are you concerned about how diversity is addressed in our curriculum? How should controversial words in what is read in class be handled? Does free speech always trump "political correctness"? Do you have specific anecdotes you would like to be discussed? You can send your ideas to the provided link or, if you prefer, in writing to an envelope outside of room 402, as well as to Mr. Joffe, Social Studies Department. Please send your suggestions anonymously to the following link:

Please join us for the next Hunter Life meeting. This unique committee of students, faculty and parent representatives meet to discuss issues which affect life at Hunter. Primarily student-led, the committee operates both as an open forum discussion group as well as a task oriented group, eliciting input from all three constituencies. In our next meeting, we will begin to discuss/explore the ways in which online resources can enhance the Hunter experience.
For parents who are interested in attending, please e-mail: jyusonho@hotmail.com (preferably by the middle of the week).
Please also contact your HLC Parent Representatives, June Yuson and Judy Wong, with comments or questions for the Committee.
RADICALS
Hey, you! Does mathematics captivate and inspire you? Does writing tickle your fancy? Do you want to see yourself hanging out with the Hunterites who are beast at math?
If you answered yes to at least one of the questions above, then you're in luck. Join Radicals, Hunter's one-and-only math magazine! You don't have to worry about committing to regular meetings, as we communicate most messages via
e-mail. (Note: you don't have to be excellent at math or writing to be an excellent member of Radicals. :D)
If you're interested, contact Andrew Sherlock (ags007ags@gmail.com), Andre Arslan (andre41777@gmail.com), or Meena Boppana (meenamathgirl@gmail.com) for more information.
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB (ASL)
Interested in American Sign Language? Have deaf friends or relatives who you've always wanted to communicate with more easily? Come to ASL! We teach sign language to people both with and without experience.
Come visit us Fridays in room 404!
CHINESE FOR DUMMIES
Have you always wanted to learn Chinese but never had the time to go to the afterschool program or felt like your lack of knowledge would make the class hard for you? Fear no more! Join Hunter's "Chinese For Dummies", which is open to everyone regardless of race and skill level! The teachers for the club will be current high school juniors who are fluent in Chinese, and under the guidance of peers rather than much older teachers, you will be learning Chinese in a stress-free, fun environment. The purpose of the club is to allow newcomers to the language to be able to learn basic vocabulary and converse in Chinese. While our focus is speaking, we will offer a reading and writing class to those who already know how to speak Chinese if enough people sign up! So come join us Monday Activities in room 225!
Date, time, location: Mondays, Activities room 225

A NEW ONLINE HOME FOR SCHOOL PICTURES – ReplayIt.com
We are excited to let you know about a fun, interactive website that we are using to share all of the great photos of our school year. The website is ReplayIt.com - a unique photo-sharing site that allows our entire school community to upload, share, and enjoy the images of the year as they happen. Organized around the timeline of the school year, ReplayIt lets you see Hunter life, from the big events to the everyday, from all different angles.
As a yearbook staff, we are excited to share lots of photos on ReplayIt.com throughout the year. We are also excited to see your photos! We like ReplayIt because it provides us with more great content (the pictures uploaded from the school community) that we can include in our official story of the year!
The goal is to capture all school photos in one spot – and we need your help. We are hoping that you can use ReplayIt as the site to share the images from your sport, class, or club. Once you register at ReplayIt.com, you – and your group – can view and upload images.
We are excited to get everybody involved in ReplayIt and appreciate your help! Let us know if you have any questions at annalshchs@gmail.com.
See you on ReplayIt! FOUND PENCIL CASE From Emma Rafferty, 7th grade On Tuesday, November 22, I found a pencil case in room 318 during period 8. It is a pink pencil case, and contains two highlighters, two erasers, three mechanical pencils, four pens, one Sharpie, two cases of lead, and a mechanical white-out. If this is your pencil case, please contact emma@rafferty.net and describe the color of the white-out. I will try to get this returned to you on Monday, the 28th, the day we return. If I do not get an email, I will try to put up some posters in the halls on Tuesday or Wednesday.
